During the 1981 Siouxsie & the Banshees tour Siouxsie & Budgie performed two songs that had previously been written during the recording of the Band "JU JU" album earlier in the year. "So Unreal" & "But Not Them" had been recorded by Siouxsie & Budgie just before the tour had started along with a cover of the Troggs "Wild Thing" , "Thumb" and "Mad Eyed Screamer" which was to become the lead track and after legal problems was finally released in September 81.
The name for the Creatures was suggested by Steve, however the now infamous cover to the EP was Siouxsie idea. The single did no better or worse than other previous banshees singles and managed number 24 on the UK Charts.
The tracks on the EP were described as "Vocal & Drums" only, and a marked change from the normal Banshees style. Percussion & drum tracks did not often set the Charts alight the last such single was way back in 1974 when Cozy Powell's "Na Na Na" had charted.. However Siouxsie & Budgie were so confident that two weeks before the release they made a video to the lead track "Mad Eyed Screamer".
The rest as they say is History!
